Ours is a large and very successful club with close to 40 members, so we have about
25-30 at each meeting. This means that we can offer a personal mentor to each new
member and a high standard of role models for those who are keen to do well. All
meetings have a diverse programme and everyone volunteers to take on a variety of
assignments at different times.
It is interesting that there are no social distinctions in Toastmasters - age, background,
beliefs - we all mix together in a supportive atmosphere. We're all there to help
one another improve: from people in their first job, on the executive ladder or retired,
volunteer workers and those in promotion, in tertiary study, experienced or inexperienced
speakers - there's room for everyone and we welcome visitors and new members.
